Warm Hearts Serving Babies In Colorado

Warm Hearts Warm Babies creates layettes that are delivered to mothers and babies. These layettes are structured to meet the need of the baby receiving it. WHWB layettes are made for newborns, preemies, and babies in need of burial. Each layette contains mostly handmade items that are supplemented with items we cannot make. Each layette has a value of at least $250.

What Goes Into Our Layettes?

Our layettes are delivered in a beautiful handmade tote bag and contain the following items:

1 handmade quilt or afghan
2 receiving blankets
2 bibs
2 burp pads
1 undershirt
1 sleeper
1 gown
2 outfits (pants/shirt or dress)
1 sweater or jacket
1 hat and bootie set
2 pairs of socks
onesie
a handmade toy
baby bottle
baby toiletry item (shampoo or lotion)
diapers and wipes

The approximate value of a layette is $250

Making A Layette

Resources

WHWB needs volunteers and supplies before we can do anything else. Our volunteers are the heart of our organization. We have to gather fabric, yarn, bottles, diapers, and other items to fill the layettes.
Sew, Knit, Crochet

WHWB hand makes as many items as we can through sewing, knit, and crochet. These items include: bibs, burp cloths, outfits, blankets, and even the tote bags the layette is delivered in.
Packing

Each layette is carefully selected and packed into a sturdy, beautiful handmade tote bag to be delivered to the designated agency or individual.
Delivery

Our layettes are distributed to the agencies we help for delivery to the mothers and babies when the time arises. Several of our volunteers find great joy is this part of the job.
